About

Debbie Ferguson

After starting my career in teaching and Fine Art, I chose to retrain in upholstery, completing my AMUSF diploma at the British School of Upholstered Furniture (now The Chair School). I was lucky enough to train under Master Upholsterers, Gregory Cupritt-Jones and Gareth Rees, achieving distinctions for all three stages.

In 2025, I was honoured to receive the David James Student Award from the Guild of Traditional Upholsterers, for my traditionally upholstered French crapaud chair.

Today, I continue to focus on traditional upholstery methods, creating handcrafted pieces that are built with care, skill, and attention to detail.

My Approach

I started Debbie Ferguson Upholstery to celebrate craftsmanship, champion sustainability, and offer a truly personal, bespoke service.

I believe that well-made furniture deserves a second life.  Whether a treasured family piece or a vintage find, quality furniture is often built to last far longer than mass-produced alternatives.  Reupholstery offers a thoughtful way to restore these pieces; reducing waste, preserving their character, and creating something unique to your home.

Every project I take on is treated with care and respect for traditional techniques.  From start to finish, I work closely with you to ensure the finished piece not only looks beautiful, but also feels right for your space - something to be used, appreciated, and enjoyed for years to come.
